The history of Mont Blanc Fountain Pens
The Mont Blanc Company is exactly 103 years old. When it started the company was known as the Simplo Filler Pen Company and manufactured quality pen in Hamburg.
The Simplo Filler Pen Company’s first model was the Rouge Et Noir and that was followed by the pen that was to give the company its new name. In 1925 Mont Blanc produced the first Meisterstück or Masterpiece which is now synonymous with the Mont Blanc brand.
In 1977 the company was acquired by Alfred Dunhill and all of the lower price pens were dropped while the brand name was used on a wide range of luxury goods other than pens.
Today Montblanc is part of the Richemont group which own luxury brands such as Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Chloé, and Baume et Mercier.
Since 2000, Montblanc has manufactured all the components for Montegrappa and Cartier branded pens.
There are currently five pens in the Mont Blanc range, although it has to be said that Mont Blanc doesn’t refer to their pens as pens they are “writing instruments!”
The five pens are the Meisterstück, the masterpiece and the icon of the brand.
The Bohème Collection which is available in either the normal black resin or heavily bejewelled and set with over 1400 diamonds.
The Starwalker a more modern range of pens with three finished the usual black a smooth blue or milled platinum.

The Etoile de Mont Blanc a pen with a diamond and lastly the Marlene Dietrich Special Edition a lady’s pen which is autographed by the late German star.

Offer a Fountain Pen this Christmas.
I look around me and see my family, friends, colleagues and strangers always running, with a busy look on their faces and in some cases, they look even scared. It’s true, we are all so worried with our lives, stressed with our problems and tired of our work, that we don’t even realize that time is passing by…
How much would you pay for being timeless? I don’t think no one has the available amount of money to buy that. On the other hand, some objects are timeless, like Fountain Pens. If you are reading this, you probably have at least one Fountain Pen, and you have it because we use them everyday including special occasions. Marriage certificates signed with our Pen, house, car, vacations. We are always signing important and sometimes memorable papers. After a few years having the same pen, you look at it and you remember: “I signed this and that with this pen…”
Offer this Christmas something timeless to someone you love and care. Offer a Fountain Pen, and let it experience the taste of timeless writing!
